Kinley’s future residents can now be assured that the vision outlined for this new development will be delivered. The Minister for Planning has approved the rezoning of the former Lilydale Quarry, paving the way for the site to continue its transformation from historical industrial uses to a thriving new residential community.
“The rezoning locks in the commitments we have made in the Kinley masterplan such as establishing a new town centre, preserving the site’s Aboriginal, agricultural and industrial heritage and delivering on the generous public open space allocation”, explained Intrapac Property Chief Operating Officer, Maxwell Shifman.
A key principle of Kinleys Development Plan is the creation of 20-minute neighbourhoods — giving Kinley residents the ability to meet their daily needs within a short distance from home, via the provision of direct transport connections, tree lined boulevards, off street bicycle and future public transport networks. The development will boast an extensive open space network comprising almost 20% of the total development area including new wetlands that will contribute to local biodiversity values. These aspects will sustainably increase amenity for both new and existing residents surrounding the development.
Shifman emphasised that the rezoning locks in commitments around important traffic infrastructure, “The masterplan has carefully considered current and future traffic impacts as part of the rezoning, committing traffic infrastructure both within and external to the site until such time that long await arterial road projects are committed by the State Government.”
“We are extremely excited with the vision we have developed for Kinley and are looking forward to bringing it to fruition. The development will bring a range of benefits including increased housing supply for Lilydale, an increase in population that will support Lilydale’s emerging major activity centre ”, commented Shifman.
“The world class urban design approach will see housing integrated with an extremely attractive and connected open space network to create a series of distinct and vibrant neighbourhoods.”
