The site on which Kinley resides represents the largest major parcel of land in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, with a 140 year rich history – a heritage we plan to respect, preserve and celebrate.
Preserving this history extends to the repurposing of the rocks sourced from the original David Mitchell owned quarry to construct the rock walls that feature throughout this new community.
This site won stone is the remanent material from 137 years of quarrying activity, with rocks sorted and recycled out of the existing overburden which was originally removed and is now being utilised to backfill the quarry by civil contractor and JV partner, Bayport.
Utilising and maximising the materials and rock we source from within our site, ensures we minimise our impact on local roads and the surrounding environment and delivers distinctive streetscapes, in a community where people will be proud to come home to.
Discover more about this unique project in the coming weeks as our Kinley LinkedIn series unfolds.
